We are now on the road heading West. Our first planned stop will be in Colorado where we will be staying with Brooks’ dad and visiting friends and family. We are planning on meeting with people and talking in as many churches and small groups as possible. After about 3-4 weeks we will be leaving Colorado to go to Utah for the next few months to do the same thing, except we will be staying with Brooks’ mom. Please pray for safety as we travel and that everything will go smoothly. We are believing God for divine appointments and opportunities to speak. As we travel we will be updating the blog more regularly and posting information on our Facebook Page and Twitter accounts, so make sure to follow us. If you happen to be in either Denver, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City, or any place in between, please let us know if we can get together. We would love to see as many people as possible, but our schedule will likely fill up fast. Thank you for praying and continually supporting us as we seek to raise support so that we can return to Africa and to RVA as soon as possible.

God Bless!

Cold is coming…

It’s not surprising to any that know me that I do NOT like cold weather. I thrive in warmth and sun. Back in November/December I remember loving the weather and thankful that I wasn’t in the cold of a Midwest winter. I also remember hearing that we will get “our turn” 3rd term. It was true. I have been so amazed at the change of seasons here and the various beauty that accompanies is. The weather started changing mid-April and we have spent countless time praying for the rain that is usually so custom now. It’s still dryer, but we are getting late night rains and the change of seasons is definitely here. It is nowhere near the ice storms and subfreezing weather that a typical US winter brings, but the cold season is upon us nevertheless- both in temperature and in health.

Both are reasons that we can use your prayers:

- Currently we have 7 of our 12 boys that have head colds, some with coughs; Micah has a head cold, a cough, and now a sore stomach (hoping he doesn’t have the stomach bug that is floating through campus!), and I am still fighting whatever I have – both the lingering effects of bronchitis, some other sort of virus, and the same head cold the boys have. That makes 9 of 16 not feeling well. You can only imagine what that means for daily life and school work. Please pray that health will come quickly for all of us, as well as the rest of the school.

- Also, while you are enjoying the sunshine and warmer weather that Spring brings, please pray that we will have the rains that are so desperately needed here! Even with the rains we have had, the drought is still severe in many, many areas! Thank you!!!

Passionate Pursuit…

Lately I have really been thinking about the word Passion a lot. I have thought to myself, What am I truly passionate about? Am I passionate about life? Am I passionate about making money? Am I passionate about my relationship with God? Am I absolutely living a life that is passion filled?

The dictionary defines the word passion as a “strong and barely controllable emotion” or “an intense desire or enthusiasm for something”.

What comes to your mind when you read that. I know that for me there are many times when I get stuck in the daily routine of life that I forget to make sure that I am doing something that I am passionate about, something that I love to do, and something that will glorify God in the end. One of the the things that I enjoy doing more than anything is just tinkering with websites. Many times it helps me calm down and it helps relax my soul. It’s almost like therapy. I know to many this may sound really wierd, but to those of us who are computer minded individuals, doing something that we absolute love to do (even when it is sitting in front of a computer) helps us calm down and be at peace.

I have also learned that when I get stuck in a rut, if I will just dig into the Word of God and seek out the hidden treasures that lie within, that I will become filled with passion and awe for what God has done and will do in my life. One of my main goals from now on is to start doing everything I do with a passion for the Kingdom of Heaven. I want to seek after God with everything I am and all that is within me. I want to please Him and do my part on this earth. One of the ways that I know that I can do this is by looking inside myself and seeing what passions God has birthed inside me. Then, I want to strive after those things with all I am. So, if I’m not on my computer as much in the days, months, and years to come, it’s not because I don’t want to be, but it’s because I might just be outside enjoying nature, helping Internal Displaced People in Kenya, or maybe even just teaching 7th & 8th graders about computers.

For now though, you can take a look at this picture and see that I have spent some time revising this website which again is somthing I’m passionate about. If you are reading this via e-mail or rss I would encourage you to come visit our new home on the web.

Thanks for reading!! – Rusty

Third term just started today and school is now back in full swing. There are still a few students who flights and arrivals are today and tomorrow, but then most people should be here. As I sit here and write this post I am reminded of how long we have been here in Africa and yet we have so little time left. I pray that this term will be a great term and we will have many stories to share with you about everything that is going on here in Kijabe, Kenya and all of the lives that you are impacting by being our partners during our remaining time here for this first year. We hope that their will be many more years to come, but more on that another time. I would like to personally thank everyone for your continued prayer and support and may God bless you richly for all that you have done.

Asante Sana (Thank You Very Much)
