All four of us stayed up tonight to ring in the New Year.  Our neighbors have an annual party for whomever wants to go.  We had a fun time talking with friends – many of whom we had not seen since this vac started – playing games and enjoying good food.  We rung in the New Year watching the ball drop. How is that possible when it still 2008 in New York?  Easy, its a tape of the ball dropping – in 2000!  Also, an annual tradition.  :-)   All in all it was a good evening in which I am now quite tired.  I think we’re all off to bed now!  We hope your evening celebrations are fun and safe.  May you each have a blessed New Year full of life, adventure, and new beginnings.  God bless and Happy New Year!

Picture Updates And Christmas Tyme

As promised in the last post, there are many more pictures online now in our photo album. We were able to get all of our pictures from the past month 2 months uploaded to the website today. Even though all the students are currently gone, the Internet here at Kijabe is still extremely slow. We apologize for the lack of updates, but are doing the best we can with what we have.

Christmas was very interesting for us this year, as it is the first time in 30 years that I have not been with my family for the holidays. To say that I missed them would be an understatement, but I know that God has us right were He wants us and I can not wait to find out all that is in store for the next term here at RVA. We had a wonderful Christmas here thanks to my parents sending christmas presents through the mail for the past 2 months (Thanks Mom). Our kids really enjoyed opening all their gifts and they also enjoyed giving out gifts to the local community. Each year, the Titchie (Elementary) school collects money and they are able to put together Christmas hampers and deliver them to the needy people. Our kids had the privilege of handing those out on Christmas eve. It really helped them appreciate all that they do have and being able to help others. Many times we wish that we could do more, but know that ever little bit counts.

Thanks for all your prayers and have a great New Year.

Stay Tuned…

So, as I looked at our website, I realized that Christmas is almost here and it has been exactly one month since I last posted anything.  I can’t believe how time flies when you are having fun.  I will make this a brief post and add more later as I have more time this coming week.  To give you a snapshot of what has happened, the boys left for their homes and time with their parents, I (Rusty) climbed to the top of Mount Kenya, the second tallest mountain in Africa at an elevation of 16,300 ft., and our entire family went to the Nakuru National Game Reserve and saw tons of really neat animals.  Pictures, stories, etc. will follow in the next few days, so stay tuned…
